British Values

At The Linden Centre, we help children and young people develop the knowledge, confidence and character they need to thrive in modern Britain. We are proud to be an inclusive, trauma-informed school where everyone is welcomed, respected and encouraged to be themselves.

Our curriculum and daily school life promote the fundamental British values, helping pupils to become active, responsible and respectful members of their communities.

Democracy

Every voice matters. We encourage pupils to share their opinions, make choices and contribute to school life. By listening to others and working together, they learn that everyone has the right to be heard.

The Rule of Law

We help pupils understand why rules, routines and boundaries are important in keeping everyone safe. Through restorative conversations and supportive relationships, pupils learn to take responsibility for their actions and make positive choices.

Individual Liberty

We encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and self-belief. They are supported to make informed decisions, understand their rights, recognise their responsibilities and celebrate what makes them unique.

Mutual Respect and Tolerance

We celebrate diversity and encourage pupils to value people from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, beliefs and lived experiences. We promote kindness, empathy and respect, helping pupils build positive relationships and develop a strong sense of belonging.

Living Our Values Every Day

British values are embedded throughout our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities and everyday interactions. As a trauma-informed school, we know that children learn best when they feel safe, understood and connected. Our relational approach enables pupils to develop trust, resilience and the confidence to engage positively with others.

We are committed to creating a community where discrimination, prejudice, bullying and extremism are never accepted. Through our curriculum and safeguarding work, pupils learn to think critically, stay safe, recognise misinformation, respect different viewpoints and make informed choices both online and offline.

Our aim is for every child to leave The Linden Centre with the confidence, compassion and resilience to make a positive contribution to their community and to flourish in education, employment and life.
