Right to Withdraw from Religious Education

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education

At The Linden Centre, Religious Education (RE) is delivered as part of a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. While we aim to provide inclusive and respectful learning about a range of beliefs and worldviews, we recognise that parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education.

This right is set out in Section 71 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, which applies to all maintained schools, including Pupil Referral Units (PRUs). Parents do not need to provide a reason for their request, and schools must comply with the withdrawal request.

If you wish to withdraw your child from Religious Education, please contact the Headteacher in writing. We will be happy to discuss your request and make appropriate arrangements to respect your wishes while ensuring your child remains safe and appropriately supervised during any withdrawn sessions.

For further information or to request withdrawal, please email or write to the school office.
