Performance and Assessment

The Linden Centre is a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). Unlike mainstream schools, PRUs are not required to publish pupil performance data or progress measures. This is because our pupils often join us at different points in the school year, stay with us for varying lengths of time, and follow highly personalised learning programmes. Publishing this data would not provide a fair or meaningful picture of the progress our pupils make.

Where appropriate, pupils have the opportunity to complete national assessments, including SATs and GCSEs, as part of their individual education pathway.

Rather than focusing on published performance tables, we focus on what matters most – the progress each child makes from their own starting point. We carefully monitor and celebrate each pupil's academic achievement, personal development, attendance, wellbeing and readiness for their next steps.

Parents and carers receive regular updates through reviews, reports and ongoing communication, ensuring they are fully involved in their child's learning journey.

If you would like to know more about how we assess progress and support achievement at The Linden Centre, please contact our school office.
