Performance and Assessments
PERFORMANCE AND ASSESSMENTS
At The Linden Centre, our pupils have the opportunity to sit national assessments, including SATs and GCSEs, where appropriate to their individual learning pathways. However, as a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), we are not required to publish performance data in the same way as mainstream schools.
This exemption is outlined in the Department for Education’s guidance. Specifically, under Section 5 of the Education (Pupil Referral Units) (Application of Enactments) (England) Regulations 2007, PRUs are not subject to the same legal duties as maintained schools to publish school performance data. Furthermore, the School and College Performance Tables, as managed by the Department for Education, do not include PRUs.
This approach reflects the bespoke and highly individualised nature of the education provided within PRUs, where pupil cohorts are often small, transient, and have varying levels of engagement with assessments. As such, aggregated performance data may not provide a fair or meaningful representation of the provision or pupil progress.
We remain committed to ensuring every learner receives high-quality, personalised education and support, and we regularly report progress to parents and carers through individualised communication and reviews.
If you have any further questions regarding assessment or outcomes, please contact the school office.
