Performance and Assessments

At The Linden Centre, pupils are given the opportunity to sit national assessments such as SATs and GCSEs, where this fits with their individual learning pathway.

As a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), we are not required to publish performance data in the same way that mainstream schools do. This is set out in Department for Education guidance, which recognises that PRU cohorts are usually small, have different starting points, and often join us for short periods of time. Because of this, national league tables do not include PRUs, as the data would not give a fair or accurate picture of pupil progress.

What matters most to us is each child’s individual journey. We focus on personalised progress – academically, socially, and emotionally – and we share this regularly with parents and carers through reviews, meetings, and ongoing communication.
