Online Safety

Online Safety-information for professionals

The TWSCB produces briefing notes relating to the use of games or apps, all of which are available for download and sharing within your networks.

Smart devices

Smart devices promise to make our lives easier and, in the majority of cases, they do. However, as with all forms of technology, there are risks associated with the use of these devices. In this day and age, you can have a smart device to perform functions such as turning a washing machine on and off, controlling the temperature of your heating, or purchasing items from Amazon, for example, without having to lift a finger. Whether you are using a device to record your shopping list or controlling your lights through a smart system, the functions can be hacked and controlled by others outside of your home.

National Online Safety have produced a '14 Top Tips to get smart about the devices in your home' briefing note, which is available to download in either a JPEG or PDF format

Schools have recently issued a warning of the use of Snapchat Map and how it can put children at risk. You can view the video from BBC here. You can also download a Parent's Guide to Snapchat here.
